In 2012 Hume City Council Youth Services started a collaborative music project with Living Music. The concept of the project was to create a song writing program for young people between the ages of 13 – 21, which would then result in recording a CD. The idea of the program was for the group of 7 young people to write music about their experiences of relationships in their lives. This was delivered in accordance with the White Ribbon campaign. The recordings on this CD, Tempo Volume 1, were all written by young people with differing levels of music talent. Andrew McSweeney from Living Music coached the young people through the song writing and recording process. All the songs were recorded in the Sunbury Youth Centre’s Studio S recording facility. Tempo Volume 1 is a diverse CD which compliments the style of each young person and their experiences. Each song has been written and recorded with acoustic guitars which give the songs an intimate feel of the song writer’s stories.
