The story of The Alcorettes began when Johnny Guitar and Brendan West met at a tram stop on Brunswick St Fitzroy Melbourne when Brendan was on the wrong tram trying to get to his home in Brunswick. Johnny had a Beatles ’Let it Be’ album in his hand, Brendan had a Led Zeppelin T shirt on. Naturally the 2 began to talk about music. From that moment on the songwriting partnership that would come to be known as "The Alcorettes" was formed. After discovering they both shared a passion for the great rock ‘n’ roll bands of the 50’s and 60’s, the two singer songwriters began writing and recording their own take on rock ‘n’ roll. Since then Brendan and Johnny have teamed up with Owen Coupe on bass and Christian Whitehead on drums to take the band to the stage and studio. Throughout 2009 The Alcorettes have been busy establishing themselves in the Melbourne music scene, and after the release of their debut EP, the band will be taking their live show interstate and beyond.
