In 1995 under the name Azreal three friends from rural WA went to play their first Gig in Perth. The lead guitarist Cody was a no show however Brad (Vocals/ Guitar) and Josh (Drums) played a one hour set including a song written by Brad called "Run to the Rain". After the show Brad was offered to front another band (which he declined). Brad and Josh borrowed a four track tape recorder and recorded "Anytime" and "Beyond the Garden" followed by a couple of hours of Jams. Brad continued to write songs and moved back down south. Josh spent a couple of years in England (where he lost the band 's jam tape). After a chance meeting in 1999 at a Perth train station Josh told Brad he had heard another Perth band were using the name Azreal. About this time one of Brad's close friends died in a car accident, after hearing that he had been driving under the influence Brad started to write "How Could You" a song that expressed his anger for his friends early departure and ultimately asked the
