The BottomFeeders dredge the silt looking for gold in amongst the detritus of life. Roto toms behind acoustic guitar grooves and somber yet uplifting tales of loss and revival are a theme. Don’t come up for air. It’s fun down here.

The BottomFeeders’ are a rock trio formed out of a desire to meld contemporary guitar riffs with unusual rock beats. The first thing you’ll notice about our set up is the absent snare drum. Instead three roto toms provide xylophone tones over lush guitar and languid bass. Each song is a lyrical story, soulful and black with humour. Wil Allen (singer / guitarist) has a long history of playing live music in the Canberra Region. He has done the journey with two rock-cover bands, View in the Snowy Mountains and now Avionix in Canberra. View won the Cooma battle of the bands in 2003. Wil regularly participates in local solo original competitions, coming runners up in the Pot Belly’s solo competition in 2004. Richard Haberecht (drummer/ percussionist extraordinaire) has been playing drums and percussion since early high school while also becoming classically trained in piano and brewing. He has played around Canberra in too many jazz, rock and R&B bands to mention. Darren Menachemson
