The Chemist formed when all four members met studying music at university. Fronted by Ben Witt (who also plays guitar in the Bob Evans band), The Chemist's first gig was a heat in the prestigious Next Big Thing Competition. They won their heat and ended up runners-up in the entire competition. They've since worked with Luke Steele of the sleepy jackson, & supported End of Fashion, Birds of Tokyo, Sugar Army & more.

The Chemist has no ethical concept of genetic mutilation and mutation of MUSIC. The Chemist's groove is undeniable, yes, however his intent is not one to impress. Scaling the boundaries of "what the F*#K is this S%!T" and "OWH YUMMY!", The Chemist takes advantage of the fact that people like F@#KED up music, and prefer to dance to the sound of a distorted chainsaw, rather than a piano.
