TCIS was created new years eve 2008 by Steven Carter, writing acoustic songs. He then went on to record 4 acoustic songs and showed the public, it was perceived really well so he decided he wanted to make it bigger and better so he asked his best friend Bryce Kelb if he wanted to join in. Bryce accepted The duo then went on to change their name to Paper & Planes and record 3 new songs, these having drums and bass included. These 3 songs were perceived even better by the public so they decided to start working on ideas for an EP. This unfortunately ended when the duo were focused more on school and socializing thus leaving the music behind. from late 2009 to 2012 Steve and Bryce appeared back on the music scene under different band names such as: stars send signals, for a paper pharmacist, PTD and sorry, my bad. Each of the pseudonyms playing different genres but alas none worked out nor did they receive the strong perception TCIS did. so in 2012 now with the duo out of school the
