The Coil was born in late 2008 as a metal project between Andrejs van Burgel and Zac Andrews in a small town called Esperance in Western Australia. Beginning as an attempt to create exactly what they wanted to hear, a sort of "niche" between the absolute clutter of the countless sub-genres in metal. To make a sound that was not afraid of any genre but still couldn't fit into one. The Coil's writing process leaves a very unique atmosphere to the music, while allowing the group to seamlessly flow between styles and leaving a lot of room for growth. With only a guitarist and vocalist The Coil distributed their EP "DYAD" in 2009. The EP was created almost as a demonstration of what the band was capable of. The first step to their future was relocating to the city of Albany, WA. Quickly forming a very loyal fan base and then after being approached by bass player Tim Caramia, The Coil became a three piece.
