The Crown
Bio history
The Crown draws influence from a diverse array of musical styles, each member of the band contributes their own uniqueness to what is an unusual but beautifully crafted rock sound. Lead singer Graham Akhurst began his musical career in late 2005 as a soloist performing original works throughout Brisbane and gained notoriety through his unique twist on the singer songwriter norm. After studying composition at the conservatorium of music, Robert Cooper began drawing parallels between modern music and more classical styles and structures. After meeting Graham in late 2008 they spawned a collaborative relationship from their separate backgrounds and started writing new music. David Hodges, being a hip-hop drummer and friend of Graham from performing arts school, blended his influence into what was now becoming a band. David merges the syncopated rhythms and extended techniques of hip-hop and jazz drumming with a contemporary rock edge. The band became The Crown with Robert Mills
