Gold Coast based singer-songwriter Brett Voss has launched his new project The Days of Being which engages with reflections on the complexities of the daily struggles we all embrace as part of life. The title track of this four song EP “Beginning” reflects on finding self-belief as he ponders “the things we lost, or just forgot, just goes to show we’re all feeling” before entering into an expansive chorus. The second track “Better” bursts with energy while following themes of letting go. Something that’s often thrust upon us whether we like it or not. Track three “What it Takes” has a catchy indie rock sound with an anthemic chorus that asks what it takes to find your niche. The EP is rounded out by the final track “Revealed” which follows the theme of a search for meaning amongst the chaos. “We keep on moving, along with the stream, when all we want is to be free” suggests the search for freedom hopefully leads us to a path to fulfillment. Beginning delivers a catchy yet considered expansion of Brett’s sound previously explored with the release of “Inside” in 2019. Brett’s previous work in power pop trio Starbug echoes strongly with these most recent releases in terms of songwriting, sound and attitude. This release was recorded at Machine Lab Studios with Jared Adlam recording and mixing all tracks. The EP features Guy Cornwell on drums, Dale Voss on backing vocals, Tyghe Voss on keyboards and was mastered by Paul Blakey at 12th and Vine.
