Deadbeatz started out when two hip hop emcees/producers, that had known each other throughout high school, were each working on solo material. Gonz and Sexion were both really into eachothers tracks from the word go and eventually decided to work on a track together. The song ended up being about the experiences they each had growing up. The track was called 'Pumpin Blood' and features guest vocals in the hook from Hone Matson, who is also a friend of the boys from the same school. The track ended up showing a nice blend of each emcees vocals and the idea of forming a duo to continue making music the way they both loved to make it was just a logical step for both of them. With Deadbeatz established it was full steam ahead with both Gonz and Sexion spending countless hours producing original beats and writing rhymes for a variety of tracks that neither of them really knew if anyone, besides close friends, would ever hear. The Deadbeatz are an innovative inner city Sydney Hip Hop crew who formed in early 2009. Taking the traditional hip hop format and twisting it into a much darker and seductive sound, The Deadbeatz weave a tapestry of tormented tales over sweetly sinister beats. A host of ecclectic individuals gathered by long time producer Stresst, The Deadbeatz constist of vocalist ‘Blessed’, poet ‘Solid St8’, mc ‘Siren’ and of course mc/producer ‘Stresst’ himself. In addition to this inner circle is a whole bunch of feature artists and musicians who contribute to the collective in various ways. The Deadbeatz takes an uncomprimising stance on social, cultural and global issues using hip hop as a forum to express their often anarchistic discontent. ‘Brain dead so we blend with the masses, hands on our wallets and our backs upon a matress’ .
