The Druid Dudes were formed by Bruce Coble, Steven Shipley, Marcus Phelan and Neil Rankin in 2011, longtime members of Sydney Beatles tribute group "The Beatels", when they decided to see what would happen if they had a go at doing their own tracks. This plan came about after bassist Steven Shipley put together a studio in his house (designed by top acoustic engineer Richard Priddle), located in a street called Opal Place. Over the next few years, the Dudes recorded a number of tracks to go on their debut album, "Opal Place". The group finished recording in 2014, and shortly after Shipley passed away from cancer. The album sat on the shelf until 2017, when it was released on Coble's new label Left Brain Records. Wheatcroft, Shipley's successor in The Beatels joined the others on-stage in 2017 to perform at the live premiere of Opal Place. Wheatcroft left in late 2017, and has been replaced by Richard Bevins. The Druid Dudes are planning to do more live shows in 2019.
