The Flints emerged in Sydney in 2017 out of the solo work of lead singer and guitarist Matt Anslow. After a gig joined by bassist Greg Byrnes-Mikelsons and drummer Matt Potts, the three joined forces to form a new three-piece alternative rock outfit. The Flints’ music is characterised by contrasts of light and dark, joy and grief, love and anger, all enveloping their potent social commentary. Combine Radiohead, City and Colour, Death Cab, Sigur Ros, and Jeff Buckley and you’re getting close to their sound. Their debut EP, A Beautiful Grief, was released in April 2018, and is available on most major music services.
