New England, NSW duo The Florin Arc follow-up their debut single 'India' with the evocative and captivating sound of 'Horses At The Crossing', the lead single from their forthcoming EP due out early in 2023. The Florin Arc are Alyce Proud (piano & vocals) and Heath Forsyth (guitar, bass and backing vocals), a duo who have been crafting and honing their songs over the last five years. The pairing of Alyce's vocal and instrumentation with Heath's guitar and lyric book, has enabled the pair to create literally hundreds of songs together. They've recently completed recording their debut EP with producer and drummer Hugh Cook from Glenrock Studio in regional NSW and the new single is a consummate calling card that spotlights the musical chemistry and creative spirit the pair possess. Alyce has a background in music performance and has been singing and playing from a young age and found inspiration from the music of Jeff Buckley, Alicia Keys, Florence and The Machine alongside classical composers such as Eric Satie and Debussy. With a background in English Literature and poetry, Heath grew up in a musical family and was exposed to a plethora of early blues, folk and country. He lists Bob Dylan, Whiskeytown and Gillian Welch among his influences. Essentially their sound is folk-rock yet it pulls elements of country, Americana and modern rock into the mix, as Alyce sings about a range of compelling subjects, from regret and desperation, to revenge and the relentless pressures of the modern world.
