Inside a mysterious radio tower on the wild coast of Tasmania, a young person finds a book with their initials on the cover. To their alarm and fascination, it maps out their entire life – from birth to death. As they read, the radio beacon crackles to life and “a sea of voices fills the room”, revealing the power in his wildness, inviting them to give in to the wonder and confounding complexity of life. That’s how it is in the world of The General Assembly; mysterious books offer glimpses of the future, children give up on their human kin and return to nature, heroes and frauds alike are swallowed up by the sun, and disembodied voices sing vital truths. For singer/songwriter and award-winning lyricist, Matt Wicking, “In my songs, I'm interested in dissolving the lines between the human-built world and the rest of life".
