During the past year, The Genuine Fakes have established themselves as a strong live act. The genre is power pop, and their music's inspired by bands such as The Posies, Popsicle, Cheap Trick, The Beatles, Weezer, Fountains of Wayne and Atomic Swing to mention a few. All these influences create an engaging, melodic pop mix that becomes The Genuine Fakes. A live review from the Rookie Festival: The band plays rocky pop music and it"s really hard to stand still. Johan, Marten and Faschan do their own thing and we like it - with their striped shirts and lovely moustaches you cannot avoid being charmed by them. They are really tight and with the bassist"s and drummer"s backup also on the vocals the band is really solid... I will definitely keep my eye on The Genuine Fakes in the future."
