The Gridlock Project began in Penrith NSW originally back around 1995 with the lead singer Yimmy penning a handful of tunes and performing with a band called Smotan.After mild success Yimmy decided to leave Smotan armed with original songs and head across to NZ where he formed Shylock and released a 5 track ep in 1997.Shows with Shihad followed and then in 1999 the band folded then Yimmy formed a band called Something Stupid who officially changed their name to Gridlock in 2005 and then released their debut album And You Are ? in 2007. The songs were a collection of rock/ska tunes and was received well.2008 saw the line up change again and in 2009 the band changed from Gridlock into The Gridlock Project.The new band still perform some of the tunes that Yimmy wrote in Australia back in 1995 and this year their 2nd album will be a more back to the rock edge type of sound. 2010 sees the band heading back to Australia for the promotion of that release and a more permanent position in
