The Grownups
When the next big thing often turns out to be the last mediocre thing and so many bands trade on the nostalgia of what they did decades ago... THE GROWNUPS are here to smash the status quo. The Grownups' debut EP is born of the frustrations of life but bursts forth with the passion that confirms the challenges are worthwhile.
The Grownups hit the Australian independent charts in the late 80s and early 90s with two singles (Into The Beyond and Snakebite) and a 4-track EP - but parted company before recording a full album. They've now reformed to complete that piece of unfinished business. Their debut album, The Light-Filled Corner, features 20-year-old songs (re-imagined) banged right up against brand new songs. It's an eclectic mix of alternative pop rock. As an interesting footnote - The Grownups' lead singer, Michael Wagner, is the dad of Wil Wagner, lead singer with The Smith Street Band. So, father and son have released debut albums almost simultaneously.
