As the name suggests, the_hobbyist is a slow moving project many years in the making. Largely because for much of that time the recording gear was boxed up in storage. Now unpacked and ready for action, weekend enthusiast/producer Darren Cook is making up for lost time putting together new material and employing the skills of fellow sunny coast musicians to perfect the soundscape. Largely influenced by the chillout era of the early 2000's (Naked Music, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Mo' Horizons, Thievery Corporation, etc) the aim of the_hobbyist is to produce a unique soundtrack that inspires the slow and appreciative head nod, a groove suitable for any late night cigar lounge or wine bar around the globe. With that in mind, sit back, relax, refill your cabernet and enjoy the sounds of the_hobbyist
