After a hiatus from the local music scene, The Hovering Spooks were formed recently by Bruce Callaway. Callaway is a producer of classic Australian albums (Ed Kuepper, The Triffids) and has recently produced albums for Waterford and The Fighting League that are getting critical acclaim. Besides producing, Callaway sensed the time was right to start up a band to record and release new songs. During the last 12 months, the band has written and recorded eight new songs for their first album – Streets of the City. The Hovering Spooks come with strong indie credentials which is no surprise given the history of the band members who have a wide range of musical backgrounds. The songs show a strong melodic sense and deal with a wide range of emotions allowing the band to play with a great depth of spirit.
