Jazz, Helen and Matt have played in various bands together since high-school, but it wasn’t until the addition of Ty on drums in mid 2008 that their sound started to take shape and The Inconsolables were formed. Since then the band has been honing their live performance skills in venues around hometown Brisbane, and have recently recorded some tracks with Bryce Moorhead at his Zero Interference Studios. Jazz provides the haunting violin lines and with Helen shares responsibilities on guitars and vocals, complemented by Ty on drums, and Matt on bass. There is an in inescapable melancholy about the group whose song themes descend on love and, well, the loss of love. Still, the band is optimistic in their own special way - they cannot deny their pop/rock roots and have determined to simply embrace the ‘sad bastardness’ of their songs, and deliver them to their audience with a warm heart and a wry smile.
