Edit history

The Meristems were conceived 2018 as a band with the aim of drawing on inspiration from major and obscure funk/soul labels and acts the 60s and 70s. These historical elements play a role that is nostalgically warm but ultimately part of a newer and modern sound.

5-piece Soul/R&B outfit coming out of Adelaide. Influenced by UK/US tastes- by the likes of Snoh Aalegra, Jordan Rakei, Tom Misch, Lianne La Havas- as well as the timeless funk, soul and sophisti-pop acts of the late 20th century.
