The Milk
Bio history
Unsinkable Australian festival favourites, folk band MILK have had a big, creative year. The band has just released their musical latest offering, "Shipwrecked at the Royal Oak", and already the album is getting interest from the Australian national music industry, and radio stations country-wide. Recorded in an abandoned pub outside Castlemaine, the new album explores historical, as well as modern Australia, through a rollicking journey of folk and Australian roots, brilliant harmonies and heart touching tunes. Milk brings together the considerable talents of vocalist Emily Hayes and the distinctive guitar style, vocal harmonies and brilliant songwriting of Helen Begley with talented double bass player extraordinaire, Gregory Craske and newest member lightning Teal Bain-Roben on the drums. Their gorgeous folk/roots arrangements combine vibrant voices and fine musicianship with energy and humour.
The Milk started in 92 with school chums Tristan Goodall, Brett Doig and Mark Lockwood. After auditioning many vocalists, Brant Eustice joined and in 96 they released an eponymous album. However, Tristan left soon after to live in Melbourne and begin making music with Taasha Coates (later the Audreys). He was replaced by Mikey G, who also later became part of the Audreys. The Milk remain in permanent hiatus, waiting for time
