Nomis De Plume was hanging around the bushland of the Armadale Moondyne area (infamous gaol-break expert Moondyne Joe's old stomping ground) and doing nothing in particular, just killing time and the occassional rabbit using a rudimentary bow and arrow. Armed with nothing but a child's guitar and a Robin Hood hat, he wrote some songs based on tales he had heard from travelling encyclopedia salesman. Then one day he ran into Dirk Hartthrob (lead guitar and sometimes drums) and Miles Offroad (bass), two of the biggest rock stars to ever emerge from the Armadale area. The formed a band and soon recruited the ultra-cool Xoghy on keys, tambourine and backing vocals and the dainty Vanessa Gudgeon on drums. Soon they were performing songs about the Perth/Armadale experience, and covering traditional and deeply moving ballads from the area, songs such as "Louie Louie (I Live In Perth)".
