Edit history

The New Middle Class emerged in Brisbane, on Jagera and Turrbal country, in 2018. Another of band member Tom Smith’s projects, The Whoopee Do Crew, had captured the imaginations of vocalist Rachel and cellist David for its joy spreading and community reweaving possibilities. The Whoopee Do Crew listened to people’s stories and turned them into songs. It is in this confessional, narrative vein that The New Middle Class continues to develop. The current band features: Elise Clark, Rohan Whiteley, Tom Smith, Josa Rubbra, Rachel Walker and David Laczko.
