It could be said that The Pitts were formed in the winter of 2020; a winter that brought clear days, off shore winds, good swell and long tubes across the coast of Newcastle NSW, the working class town where The Pitts grew up and cut their teeth in. It could also, however, be argued that the genesis of The Pitts began many years ago, through the halls of a youth spent together at punk shows, playing parties, surfing the Cowrie Hole under moonlight and bombing hills late in the early hours of morning on skateboards down tar roads across the steel city coast line. It could be argued that without those years spent together scratching out existence that The Pitts as we know them simply could not exist. This band transcends aspirations, it exists because it brings meaning and richness to our lives, because The Pitts love and adore each other. Spawned from a town where many of its workers have spent more time underground than above The Pitts music is very much of this place.
