“The Ride” is a group of 5 high school boys in year 10, from Engadine High School and St. John Bosco, in the Sutherland Shire. The band has played together for a while, with the recent addition of our new guitarist. We have a unique, funky, semi-retro sound. We recently recorded our debut single, “Feeling”, as our entry to Triple j Unearthed High. It was written and put together in the school music room, and it’s themed on a strange new feeling, and how the person experiencing it perceives it. “Feeling” was recorded at Studio 57 and recorded and mixed by the amazing Sam Strachan, who also provides backing vocals. We are very excited by the finished product and keen for an audience to hear our work. The band draws inspiration from artists such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Ocean Alley and Smashing Pumpkins.

The Ride: Three friends, hanging out one night a week at a seedy little studio in Byron Bay. Having a few beers, "taking the piss out of everything and anything", playing their own self-induldgent form of music, releasing from everyday life and just generally enjoying each others company. Creating something special, which brings together the wide range of influences and experiences they've gained along the way. Energectic, melodic rock / punk / metal / grunge / indie / alternative / whatever you want to call it?? Blending several genres into a sound with a distinct flavour of it's own. The Ride have just been added to this years SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS line-up. Alongside bands such as: Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, The Hoodoo Gurus, Powderfinger, Grinspoon, Klaxons, The Shins, Lily Allen, Kaiser Chiefs, etc. They play on the main stage, Sunday 5th of August at 12pm.

Formed in 2012, The Ride are a 4-piece acoustic rock outfit from the northern suburbs of Brisbane. After being quite active in the Sandgate live music scene, the band headed into the studio in November 2013 to record a 5-track EP. With many different influences and a distinct Australian feel, you'll be sure to enjoy The Ride!
