The Sandhills are an Australian alt-folk alt-country band lead by singer / songwriter Chris Hann. On the back of their 2024 debut LP , Not Forever. Just for Now, The Sandhills hung up the electric guitars and pursued a batch of folk/country songs with Darwin violinist and choralist, Ania Tait. Her work elevated several ballads in the set and the EP "Prairies" was released, described as a folky, dark collection of frontier narratives. The Sandhills reference the suburban landscapes and people of Australia, where "every dog barks on Saturday night", "freighters glow" and kids ditch school to fish where it's "sandy, dry and cool". It's a folky mix that's kinda poppy, kinda country, mostly in tune, mostly in time.
