After making an unsuccessful attempt at taking the musical world by storm, Kog and Hugh played acoustically for most of '08 while trying to convince Kog's brother Thanu to start another band with them. While he refused to join, Kog and Hugh worked on a few ideas with Hayden during the year of '09, eventually producing enough material to lure Thanu. By the start of December '09 the first rehearsal was complete. After balancing working on original material with barbeques and cricket over the summer of '09/'10, the boys were ready for their first gig by the middle of February. Since then The Scarecrows have had a big year, leaving a catchy trail across Melbourne and surrounds in their wake. From that humble first gig partying with some cool kids at Monash Uni to a not so humble second gig at The Espy’s Gershwin Room, the boys have been gaining momentum as they moved up along the peninsula from native Mt Martha, putting the Pelly Bar and a battle of the bands win at Pier Live worth
