Bridging a five-year, 2624 kilometer gap between Mount Wellington and Melbourne, The Sun Gods combine the driving rhythms of Jamie Porteous with Konrad Kurta's pleasantly bipolar melodies and lyrics. Born and cryogenically frozen in an Auckland warehouse in 2011, the group recently reconnected at Melbourne's Red Door Studios to finish song ideas...ideas that grew into something tangible. The Sun Gods' debut self-titled EP confidently grooves from the stomp of funk-laced opening track 'Billion Dollar Daydream', through the soaring major chord space-pop of 'An Ode to Noisy Nights'. The songs weave a narrative of bonds reconnected, meandering youth, and confronting uncomfortable truths...stories unique to the band but universally relatable.
