The Surly Mermaids write intimate poptronica with an emphasis on carefully crafted songs and warm analog production. They are the proud parents of an EP, Things to Keep & Things Spare (2006), and a new single, Romantic Supervisions (2008). Songs from both records have received airplay on Triple J and local community broadcasters RRR, SYN and PBS FM. Despite their relative infancy, The Surly Mermaids have played to all sorts of audiences including shows at Northcote Social Club (supporting Kat Frankie, and The Basics), The Tote, The Evelyn, The Empress, 303, The Forum (MIFF Festival Club), The Glasshouse Hotel, Caz Reitop’s Dirty Secrets, Carni, The Spanish Club, Eurotrash, Pony and The Brunswick Hotel.
