THE WEEKEND JUNKIES

Bio history

Born in the late days of 2005, The Weekend Junkies came about against sketchy odds. Nick Hyde and Chuck Ridler had been a guitar/drums combination for many, many years, playing numerous shows of a dodgy calibre. Now disgusted that they ever thought power-pop was a label that should be proudly attached to their music they have thrown all their energy into the junkfest that is neo-seattle punkrock. Yes, Yes I hear you snigger ‘power pop’ and rightly so. But consider this, in 1995 playing surfer punk was the alternative mirror of mainstream, playing pop was where the double hermeneutic was at. Word and Lord. Tony Dimitri forms the third prong and fuck is it a sharp prong at that. Tony brings the riffs in, smashes them on the rehearsal floor and then proceeds to pour petrol on them and sniff away. Tony is T-Junk lord of the dance and without his chest hair this band would not be junk. Period. End. Stop.
