In early 2007, Roxanne, Joe, Fil and Moonburn all met on the same day in a George street café, before all studying music together at Tafe. However, it wasn’t until a year later and several failed music projects that they came together again and The What was born, bringing together a wide set of influences including rock, pop, blues and roots sounds. From humble beginnings winning third place in a Campbelltown RSL Band Comp (Sessions ’08), to cooking up a storm at The Bridge Hotel, and recording a tight demo, The What quickly stood out on the local scene with their infectious melodies, driving grooves and edgy, electrical performance. They have their sights set on world domination, and to anyone who stops their hectic lives to have a listen, a soothing musical massage is given. To make a mark without using a question mark, The What are exactly that!
