After a series of warm up shows in 2010 The Wildes are about to embark on a national tour to re-introduce the splendidly reviewed album ‘Ballad of a Young Married Man’ and support new featured radio single release ‘Sue Ellen’. The band’s singer/songwriter Lachlan Bryan describes ‘Sue-Ellen’ as “a bit like the kind of song that might have appeared on an early 70s Van Morrison record (maybe Astral Weeks?)– a story about a mysterious and ethereal girl that’s somehow in control of things. She’s been through a bit and she won’t take any shit. She’s the power player – and the guy is pleading to her. She dresses well, she’s smart and she can look after herself and him – he’s a dumb kid trying to prove himself to her”. Also included in the release is the ‘b-side’ titled ‘Nothing’ – a swaggering sea-shanty of ruptured romance. Like ‘Sue Ellen’ it was written on the piano and is crooned by Bryan amidst swirling pedal steel from American steel legend Tommy Dettamore and a chorus of love-lorn
