In march 2014, Thieves took time off from performing live to do some writing. Trying to pull their focus away from heavy drinking and constant procrastination thieves managed to pull things together and write their debut album. Heavily influenced at the time by prolific story-tellers such as Nick Cave, Neil Young, Jay Laffer, Gareth Lidiard and Tim Winton a twisted melancholic narrative about a trouble Australian family was created. After months of writing and draining rehearsals thieves decided it was time to find where they would track the record. Romanticising with the idea of creating a organic and gritty live sound they chose the amazing Linear Studios in Sydneys leichcardt. In June Thieves met with producer Dorny Mayes the plan the recording. With only a shoe-string budget at their disposal they chose to track live over two days. This decision gave birth to ‘Mary’, their most organic and honest efforts as a band yet.

From the edge of the Earth comes a new seven piece folk band, that has come out from under the rocks of the pristine streams of Tasmania, shaking themselves dry, stringed instruments in hand, and foolishness of heart as a guiding factor. Thieves began in college, jamming singer/songwriter Mary's joke of a song she wrote for her alcoholic friend as a birthday gift. They've since expanded, collaborated, and created a sound not so comical, but they do not mind if a chuckle or two is thrown in their general direction. Being lucky enough to have MS fest 2011 under their belt as their first gig, it has been a fortunate debut for the band, stemming gigs in their local area that are second place to busking outside pizzakom at 2 30 in the morning on a Wednesday for milk and bread money. Living under the same roof, and sharing the same fridge, these kids know how to get along, both musically and householdely. The THIEVES Having origionally formed January '09 by Ben and Spencer and playin too 2 sold out nights at the Govenor Hindmarsh Hotel 1 month later .During the next hectic 9 months of performing and touring The ep` DRINK UP YER POISON BOYS was written and recorded with the band becoming hungrier and hungrier for success .Somehow during this first year of Celtic mayhem and destruction The Thieves had got themselves picked to play The` BIG DAY OUT` a feat unheard of a band less than 12 months old to play BDO and so it was .The performance was a complete blast and honour to do but wait . The momentum still travels forward in leaps and bounds with this charismatic 6 piece acoustic outfit.Collectively having shared the stage with such legends as SHAM 69(UK), THE BUSINESS(UK), TOM GABEL(AGAINST ME) , CHUCK RAGAN (HOTWATER MUSIC),28 DAYS ,THE HOT LIES to name a few .There current ep`Drink up yer poison boys` in its second pressing and shows amass of Thieves t shirts the cult following of

We are THIEVES. We are a 5 piece metal act hailing from Western Sydney, Australia. The band was established mid 2013 with members coming from a variety of recognised bands. Combining influences drawn from a wide variety of artists in current metalcore, traditional hardcore & even hip-hop – we have developed a fresh sound of which we are proud to call our own. In May of 2014, we recorded the first 2 tracks from our up-coming EP at Electric Sun Studios – Sydney. With plans to record a further 3 – 4 tracks later in 2014, we are currently focused on establishing our name in the live music scene. See you at a show!
