"Most of the songs are about girls..." admits Tom Bryson, "...the stuff that happens when you're in a relationship, trying to start one, ending one, or just trying to be friends – all that stuff." So take a couple of years of volatile relationships and mix it together with a wide variety of influences ranging from 60's pop to jazz and rock - and you're starting to get an idea of the sound of Tom's debut album. Then, add in a push-pull dynamic between Tom and his producer, Arnold Vermaak, and it gets interesting. "Arnold and I come from pretty different backgrounds," says Tom, "and his influences tend to be more electronic and he likes using sampled beats. He used to be a drummer whilst my background is more singer/songwriter guitar-driven rock stuff. So we attack things from very different angles and, sure, we argue about stuff, but ultimately, the best idea wins." Tom says he's tried hard to keep the songs focused and concise, but as far as production goes, no limit was placed on
