Tough Gnarl is a three-piece alt-rock band from Sydney's Northern Suburbs. The band play a natural evolution of early 2000's alternative and indie music, with modern elements inspired by Dear Seattle, Northeast Party House, Hockey Dad and Wolf Alice. After participating in various high-school collaborations, the band was formed in the garage of D'souza's Beecroft home in 2018. Primarily, this was because they could not be asked to move the drum-kit any place else. The following months consisted of weekly rehearsals in which the group began to sound listenable. In timely fashion, the band scored a coveted position opening for the Northern Suburbs most anticipated and exclusive house party known as 'XXL'. Following this, they went on to play various support gigs and headline shows at Petersham Bowling Club and Red Bar Glebe. In 2019, the band released their debut single 'Flower', a flurry of their indie, electronic and alt-rock influences.
