Toy Shaw is a self produced singer-songwriter from Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa NZ, based in Naarm AUS. Toy, inspired by her mum’s early obsession with The Chicks, found a love of country music. With a gay reverent affinity for Maybelle Carter, Neko Case, Loretta Lynn, she taught herself how to play clawhammer banjo and from there, Toy (like Dolly) Shaw (like her mother), was born. Her music is something like an Oklou remix of Kitty Wells -- soft vocals, lush harmonies and flowering banjos embedded in soundscapes of glossy synthetic entropy
