Inspired by the survival and healing of loved ones past and present, Úna Heera is a folk-roots circle of storytelling, weaving a tapestry of layered harmonies and intricate instrumentation. Úna Heera was founded by key lyricist, Dawn (lead vocals, keys, autoharp) and features dear friends in life, love and collaboration, Daryl James (banjo, mandolin, 12 string), Kris Field (accordion), Hughie Doherty (lap steel, ukulele) and Sam Reynolds (bass). Originally united via tea-drinking and songwriting sessions, Úna Heera embrace music-making as a source of light and hope during the darkest of days. Strong believers in music’s capacity for connectivity and healing, Úna Heera invite audiences to sing together, to share the harmonies and welcome new growth. The name and stories are drawn from Dawn's lineage of brave women who conjured much strength through unspeakably difficult times: Una, a healer from the mid-western plains of the United States; Heera, a princess from the palaces of Agra, India; and Peggy, a flame haired artist and farmer from the turbulent cobbled stone streets of Derry, Northern Ireland. Renowned for their rousing singalongs, Úna Heera create a space of love and openness that is at once intimate and communal. In their presence, there is no denying that music is truly magical.
