In the beginning, there was a boy called Matt, and Matt had a dream. It was a swirling, psychedelic dream, a vast landscape of unheard sounds and unseen visions. So Matt played his guitar, and the song that came forth was new and dazzling. But then he realised he wasn't alone, for there was Rod, and his guitar was strange and bright. And there was also Greg, who's low rumbling bass added depth. Then they heard drums, and Nick came forth, and his rhythm was unlike any they had heard. And a voice told Matt that he was now a Duke. "What sort of Duke?", he asked. "an Unsought Duke, one who comes to entertain when people need it most, who enlivens and enlightens, who lifts souls to the joyous stars." And Duke knew it to be true. So they played, and the people rejoiced. Was it happyrock or dirtypop they heard? It was both! The sounds came from a comforting past, and also an exciting future.
