Vegas Nerve, the ‘improbable’ band, is a collection of 6 six musicians, 5 five of whom are under the tutelage of the bass player, Darryl Chute, muso extraordinaire, brilliant teacher and founder of Fountainhead Music studio. What brings us together, in addition to Darryl, is our love of music. In the tiniest soundbites between our six busy lives, we’ve managed to co-create this album. Writing and performing with each other, experimenting with instruments, sounds, rhythms and lyrics, we encourage each other to cast aside the inner critic, let go of the constrictions of perfectionism or doubt, and simply try whatever it is we want to try. It’s a playful, joyful space most of the time, where we strive for a balance between not taking ourselves too seriously yet also refining and developing our craft, collectively moving to higher and higher places musically. It’s an experiment where we place our trust in the notion that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
