Headed by Glaswegian-born Andrew Stark, Vital Sparks are a five-piece alt-rock band based in Melbourne/Naarm. The band’s self-produced songs take cues from jangly 90’s slacker rock, 70's folk-rock, and the sullen tail end of Britpop. The band are releasing their debut album, Tailspin, in May 2024 via the cassette-based label, Cerine Ruby. A natural yet significant progression from previous work, Vital Sparks’ new tracks cohesively tie together wailing guitars, melodious bass lines, and candid lyrics into a collection of songs that embrace thunderous crescendos and whispered harmonies in equal measure.
