Voix Nulle (pronounced Vwa-Noole) is the experimental ambient and electronic project of Sydney-based composer and multi-instrumentalist Brendon Warner. Operating out of Sydney’s inner-west creative hub, Newtown, Warner crafts immersive soundscapes using hardware synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines—striking a delicate balance between the volatile, unpredictable nature of analog gear and the structural weight of intentional song form. Warner’s musical roots run deep in Australia's underground scene. After playing in the 2000s metal outfit Sound the Mute, he joined post-rock luminaries We Lost The Sea in 2008, contributing to their formative first three records, including the acclaimed Departure Songs. In 2016, Warner stepped back from the band circuit to focus on sound design, electronic production, and composition theory through the Berklee College of Music. Drawing inspiration from cinematic, texture-heavy scores like Geoff Barrow & Ben Salisbury’s Ex Machina and Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross’s The Social Network, he discovered a new direction—one that merged his background in heavy, dynamic arrangements with modular sound design. “Just how much richness and range there is in a simple sawtooth wave is—to me, anyway—grossly underappreciated. Paired with a curvy envelope, a low-pass filter, and an amp, a humble East Coast subtractive synth setup remains profound.” Voix Nulle’s debut release, Latticework, is a textured audio collage inspired by the surreal literature of Haruki Murakami and the architectural, social, and human tapestry of inner-west Sydney. Latticework is scheduled for release on October 31, 2026.
