Sydney-based band Volky are excited about the release of their upcoming debut EP “Shine On”, a collection of 5 songs led by the title track, which they announce is “an upbeat, positive song. Usually, we write about love and love lost, and while this one touches on heartbreak, the song doesn’t dwell in the sadness. It celebrates the fact that we take chances with each other, and the fact that that there was a great love in the first place.” Writing and performing is a cathartic experience for the band’s singer-songwriter, also called Volky, who admits “music allows me to get out all of my frustrations. I write down my thoughts, and put them in some kind of order. Whatever the situation, once it’s set in stone, there’s peace in it because it just is. I can examine it, file it away and purge.” The band’s singer has gravitated towards music since he was a boy, conceding that, “I have a real need to make music, and my main goal is to entertain people.
