Francis .M. Wai, professionally known as WaiKid, is a singer-songwriter from Sierra Leone, West Africa, currently based in Adelaide, South Australia. Music has been a lifelong passion, nurtured from an early age through influences ranging from global icons like Michael Jackson to Afrobeats stars such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, as well as the soulful sounds of gospel and church music. Over the years, “I felt truly blessed to share the stage with someone I’ve always admired as a fan,” with notable artists, including internationally acclaimed Afrobeats star Rema, known for the hit single Calm Down. My performances have graced major South Australian events, including WOMADelaide, NSS stage, the SAANA Festival, Local shows, and clubs, among others. “My goal is to contribute meaningfully to Sierra Leone’s music scene, Afrobeats, Australian music, and the global music stage.” On July 12, 2024, I released my debut EP Love & Passion, a project that marked a new chapter in my artistry.
