Jonny 'Waka' Kawa is now a Cairns based producer exploring the sounds of Tropical house, Chill Step, Lounge, Hip Hop, Reggae and Future Roots that compel emotive melodic compositions. His recent sonic pallet gains much of its influence from producers like Kygo, Flume, Martin Garrix, Hardwell, Major Lazer, KRONO, Callipo, Dj Mustard, and many more that contribute to a lush, melodic sound. Born in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, to an Australian mother and Papua New Guinean father, Waka moved back to PNG with his family at 6 weeks of age. Waka spent his early years in remote villages of the Southern Highlands, particularly in the small townships of Pangia & Kagua. He also spent his early schooling years in the industrial coastal city of Lae, Morobe Province.
