With the official school title being "rock band", the five piece group has evolved to be much more than just that. A combination of girls, with different music tastes, a pile of instruments and an empty room above a school admin building have equated into the mischievous fun loving and audacious group, now titled We Meddling Kids. In early 2007, St Hilda's guitar teacher Craig Pinkney committed to creating St Hilda's first official rock band. Eight different girls were brought together, each with their own talent to add to a variety of covers including songs by The White Stripes, The Grates and Jimi Hendrix. These eight girls met every Thursday morning before school to practice performing their versions of popular songs. The eight performed mainly at school, doing lunchtime shows in the music room and school music performances at night. Slowly, the eight became seven as the stresses of school started to wear through. By September, seven girls now with the band name, Vinyl Minor
