West Worx is the eclectic studio project of country Victorian producer Shaun Barnett. West Worx blurs the lines between genres, drawing inspiration from the golden era of 80s rock (think DIO, WASP, INXS, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Joe Satriani, GnR et al). But Shaun's musical tastes actually span decades, having evolved from 80s rock and pop to dance and trance, indie rock, punk rock, and eventually settling on stoner/psychedelic rock and space rock. Some current favourite bands include Tuber, Naxatras, My Sleeping Karma, Methadone Skies, Seas of Years, Distant Dream. This cacophony of sounds inside Shaun's head, combined with his incredibly dry sense of humor tends to result in his production of music that might be generously labelled as "experimental soundscapes." One example of a song recently produced: "Every Home Needs a Shaun", a 90s rock style party anthem that accuses pretty much everyone except Shaun of being a boring twat! haha. The following day Shaun produces a track called "Heart of Gold", a tribute to Marika Pogany, one of "The Fifteen" who were slaughtered at the hands of deranged madmen at Bondi Beach on the 14th December, 2025. A heart-felt, somber and deadly serious tribute to an amazing woman cut down in the most gruesome of manner. RIP Marika. May your meals on wheels service continue into the great beyond. I'm sure the Son of God gets hungry too! It is this versatility and natural inclination toward variety of content and lyrical material that perhaps will set Shaun apart. Moving away from the constraints of a single genre, West Worx focuses on the joy of creation—from driving rock tributes to personalized, uplifting anthems. It is music made with heart, technical precision, and a mission to encourage and entertain. Whether it's a retro-throwback or a futuristic experiment, if it works, it’s West Worx.
