Whipbird are a harmony drenched New-Folk quartet who write about the perils of suburbia, sleeping in birds'-nests and love affairs with the unsuitable gentry. These wine slurping twenty-somethings have cut their teeth in various brisbane bands, orchestras and accountancy firms and are finally making headway in their quest to play mid-sized folk festivals. The girls have finally released a debut EP and are basking in the glow of selling it below cost. Featuring the unique and arresting lyricism of songwriter Vanessa Hodgins, their string charged blend of guitar, cello, violin, bass, drums and banjo creates a blurry vision of of an Australian future where dogs can ride on public transport.
