We are pleased to announce the long-awaited return to recorded music by Country music singer, William Alexander! Going on three years since his last release, “Ridin’”, we are excited to share the first single from Alexander’s upcoming album. “Queensland Ranges”, originally written by Dusty Rankin, is one of the true pioneering songs of Australian country music history. Painting the picture of a drovers life in Queenslands cattle country, William sings this old number with a true heart. At 26 years of age, William, who makes his living as a stockman in the Riverina region of NSW, sings with a maturity beyond his years. Having learned to sing harmonies in church with his father, music has always been in his blood. His strong voice and guitar playing, partnered with his life and experience working the land and livestock, make the magic in his ballads all the more authentic. Back in 2021, during the global pandemic that had festivals and gigs cancelled, William got together with his mate and collaborator, Patrick Wilson. In an old stone cottage in central VIC, the two mates recorded and co-produced an album of songs. With a mix of great Australian material as well as songs penned by Alexander himself. “Queensland Ranges” marks the first sneak peak at those recordings, two years after they were played into a microphone. Aided by multi-instrumentalist, Tommy Brooks, on the electric guitar, steel guitar and mandolin, as well as Wilson’s bass guitar and drums. We finally get to share our take on an iconic Australian song. Edited and mixed, as well, by Patrick Wilson (what a champ!). The rest of the album is due for release in the latter half of 2023. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks for having a listen!
