An alternative twist on classic rock which unites everything that made music in the last century so timeless and unique. From early blues riffs converging with the headbanging tone of stoner rock, to more psychedelic and ethereal ballads, Wingfield resembles a dusty vinyl your stoner uncle put on while lecturing you about what ‘real music’ sounds like. With drummer Maddy bringing her unbreakable beats, alongside the punch and slap of Hoops’ bass lines to dominate the low end, lead guitarist Scoops’ swoops in with irresistibly catchy riffs all put together by John’s instantly recognisable vocals and heartfelt lyrics. Our name pays respects to the iconic suburb of Wingfield, known for its dingy warehouses, Covid outbreaks and of course – the Wingfield dump. If you’re unlucky enough to be in the area during a southernly wind, expect a musty mix of smells ranging from pickled rotting meat, cigarette ash, or on a good day, a rotisserie chicken. We like to think we fully embrace the industrial cesspool of dust and sleep-deprived truckies that is Wingfield! Our first song release was a massive achievement for us and helped truly consolidated our position in the Adelaide scene. With a packed show at the Adelaide UniBar with over 170 tickets sold, it was truly a night of banging tunes which fit perfectly with the vibe of our song ‘Wingfield blues’. Faithful reviews of the song have caught on to the exact feel that we attempted to put out; described as “sabbath-esqe” with a “grungy bass” and vocals akin to a “Elvis and Morrison Love-child” which all “perfectly scratches that classic rock itch” (Reviews from @nothintodo.adl [edition 13, page 5; Instagram] and @keroseneadl [edition 6; Instagram]). The strong release has opened the door to many bigger opportunities and has consolidated our position as in the Adelaide scene. We hope to continue this momentum interstate and across as many scenes as possible.
